A leap of faith
Have you ever tried stepping out of your comfort zone and it sort of freaked out the people that are around you just a little bit? Lol, like changing your dress code for the first time in a while and everybody is like, wow. Too soon son! Now you’re stuck like that, with all the teasing because you can’t just put the clothes under your bed as they were expensive. Or, say you’re a known to be a rapper and decided to twist things around a little and try acting! Then your fans assume that you smoked something because that ‘isn’t’ you. But then you run into a stranger and they stop, tell you how awesome you look. Now my question is who’s fooling who? The answer - nobody. Trying new things has never been easy. But how then will we learn our limits? I’m really a liker of new things. Well, except for food, but that’s a story for another time. Here is the thing… you have to let go, step out and try new things. You will be shocked at how you have been holding back your potential for so long and your confidence levels… hello, to the roof! Trying new things also teaches you how to appreciate yourself. Have you always wanted to change genres? Try it. I mean The Dogg and Gazza started off as Kwaito guys and now they are making international house tracks featuring international artists too. The thing about trying new things is that they also help you break out of your ordinary lifestyle. I’ve heard of so many people who, after seven generations in their family history, are the first to graduate this year. Because they didn’t say ‘oh well, it has never happened in our family so why even bother’, but instead, they said I will do this for those that have passed and those to come. Who knows, they were probably petrified of failing but fear has never killed anybody. You need to come to a space of peace with making blunders and for sure, learning from them too. What I’m trying to say is we all have to be like that little dog Courage, facing all those monsters he was terrified of, leaping to new heights to save his loves Muriel and Eustace. Eventually, those who thought you were crazy for dyeing your whole head red will get used to the crazy side of you and won’t have a choice but to accept it. Why, because you are happy with that new you. Because courage is the new confident. May you be fully clothed in it.
