Neatly tucked away between buildings lies a cosy art shop with hidden treasures inside. Just like its name Kaleidoscope Creations, it is a true treasure. Cosily hidden, the warmth not only radiates from the coffee shop nearby but from all the different artsy decorations on the outside of the shop. With plants welcoming you and benches beckoning you to have a seat and enjoy life at its finest.
Owner Birgit Böck has a welcoming and calming demeanour, immediately making you want to explore more of the small shop. A true beacon for artists and anyone that appreciates art in all its forms.
Besides being an art shop Birgit offers a variety of art classes with different mediums and to different age groups. Children as young as five years can be enrolled and taught by Birgit, who has various qualifications to her name and more to come.
The art classes and curriculum are uniquely set up to meet the needs of all clients. Equipped and qualified, Birgit leads her students and customers to discover their “amazing creativity”.
One of the students, Anria van Tonder, who attended the holiday art classes that Birgit offered, said: “Because the environment was calming, I was calm.” Anria has learning disabilities that prevent her from concentrating for long, but her mother was amazed at how still she sat for two hours straight.
As difficult as it is to discover treasure, the art shop has been operational since 2009, starting in a garage and growing to so much more. According to Birgit the business was given to her by God and without Him it would not have been possible.
The army of three - Birgit, her daughter Michelle who assists with everything digital, and their assistant Dina -overcame the difficulty that a lot of businesses experienced during the Covid-19 lockdown.
“I don’t know how we managed to keep our doors open,” says Birgit, giving all credit to God. “God is the owner of my business, we are only his servants,” says Birgit.
