20 APLI fellows kickstart their fellowship programme
OFF TO A GREAT START: The African Pathfinder Leaders Initiative’s (APLI) inaugural fellowship programme officially kicked off this month. The APLI fellowship aims to empower young Namibians who have the desire and potential to bring about significant change in their communities. Twenty young people, who are running initiatives that positively advance the wellbeing of their communities, have been selected and are currently part of this initiative. They will undergo a year-long leadership development programme, complete with three residential programmes in different regions across the country. The training is underpinned by three pillars, including leadership and community development and entrepreneurship. As part of the residential programme, the fellows will receive comprehensive interdisciplinary leadership training, which is delivered in an intensive and participatory manner. “As the year progresses, they will be required to start their initiatives or scale existing ones and provide progress reports during the following residential programmes. In this way, the APLI team is able to assist fellows to address specific challenges as the year progresses,” said Hilja Eeulu the director of APLI. PHOTOS: APLI
