Widow, ex-lover guilty of murder
Former lovers Ryno Ricardo du Preez and Rachel Rittmann who stand accused of killing Rittmann’s husband, Rudolf, and whose burnt remains were found in his car near the Windhoek-Gobabis road, have been found guilty of murder. In his judgement this morning, High Court Judge Christo Liebenberg also found the two guilty of a conspiracy to commit murder as well as defeating or obstructing the course of justice. Rachel, 48, and Du Preez, 36, were accused of killing Rudolf by stabbing him to death with a knife at his home in Gobabis on 23 August 2013. They allegedly thereafter drove the body in the deceased's own vehicle to an area near the Hosea Kutako International Airport, where they set the vehicle alight with the body of the victim inside. They were arrested days after the murder while in bed together. Read full story in tomorrow’s edition.
