Hero's burial for Gurirab
The late former Prime Minister Theo-Ben Gurirab will be honoured with a state funeral at the Heroes' Acre this Saturday, government has announced. Gurirab died on Saturday afternoon in a Windhoek hospital. He was 80. The permanent secretary in the ministry of information, Mbueta Ua-Ndjarakana, announced on NBC television a while ago that President Hage Geingob has accorded the status of national hero to the former minister of foreign affairs and speaker of the National Assembly. A memorial service will also be held at Gurirab’s hometown of Usakos, while the state memorial will take place at the Parliament Gardens on Friday afternoon.
