Nedbank Namibia has committed N$110 000 towards the hosting of the Desert Classic golfing event at the Rossmund Golf Course on 28 and 29 December.

The bank's chief financial officer JG van Graan said the event will unquestionably be a pinnacle one for golfing enthusiasts.

“Our aim is to present golfers with an experience without equal when they step onto the Rossmund Golf Course.

“In its earlier iterations, this golf event has always been held in high esteem and our intention is to step up the overall experience significantly in collaboration with DZ Golf and the Rossmund Golf Course,” Van Graan said.

Dan Zwiebel of DZ Golf said the Nedbank Desert Classic will follow a Better Ball Stableford format with a scramble drive.

“We have 72 spots available for two-person teams, and these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis,” said Zwiebel.

“Interested teams are welcome to contact me directly at [email protected]

Entries close on Friday, 20 December and the amount payable is N$1 000 per person, which includes both green and competition fees, as well as top-notch welcoming gifts, halfway-house treats for both golfing days and a prize-giving lunch for all participants.

The event will cater for the entire family.

Van Graan said the Nedbank Desert Classic provides the perfect backdrop to end off both an engaging year and month for Nedbank Namibia in Swakopmund, considering the fact that the bank is also hosting the Nedbank Desert Dash on 6 and 7 December, as well as the Nedbank Swakopmund Food Festival on 13 and 14 December at the coastal town.

“Our bank is renowned for the quality events we host and the Nedbank Desert Classic will cap off a truly triumphant year for us. We have great appreciation too for the enthusiastic support from the Rossmund Golf Course, DZ Golf and Bachmus Oil and Fuel Supplies.”
