Two suspects were arrested for gang raping an 18-year-old in Karibib yesterday.

According to the police's crime investigation coordinator for the Erongo Region, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, the suspects Deon Muyenga (21) and Josef Taukondjele Fillemon (37) made their first appearance at the Karibib Magistrate's Court after they allegedly raped the girl at her home in Karibib. They are said to have walked her home from a bar. Meanwhile, a success was reported on a stock theft matter in Karibib after a case was made by 76-year-old Derik van Rhyn. “It is alleged that on Sunday at around 04:00 about eight suspects, including one farm worker, slaughtered three cattle valued at N$45 000 at Farm Waldheim in the Karibib district. They loaded the meat in their vehicle, a silver GWM bakkie, and drove towards Okahandja. “They were intercepted and arrested just before Okahandja, coming from Karibib by Okahandja police together with neighbourhood watch members after a tip-off from a community member. All three carcasses were recovered,” said Iikuyu.

The suspects who made their first appearances at the Karibib Magistrate's Court yesterday were Nicanor Nekundi (31), Titus Nehemia (20), Uatavi Kamandoora (35), Elia Ndapukuluka Shikongo (39), Mupandi Natangwe Ndiitumbula (38), Joseph Victor (36) and farmworker Adolf Kandetu (39).
