Strikers wanted

Citizens Football Club boss Dawid Goagoseb has hinted at acquiring four more players to strengthen his squad for the second round of the MTC Namibia Premier League.

The club has struggled to keep form in the first round of the season and is seventh on the log.

The Citizens FC boss feels there is room for improvement though.

The club has its sights set on bringing in two strikers and strengthening the backline with two more defenders.

“We did not have a good first round in the premier league and that is why we need to bring in players who can help us improve.

“Goal scoring for us has been a big problem and that is why I want to add at least two more strikers,” Goagoseb says.

The club has won five matches, drawn five and lost five in the first round of the season.

Citizens' main concern is that they have a minus on their goal difference after conceding 19 goals while scoring 18 this season. Goagoseb hopes his boys will be more ambitious in the rest of the season.

The club is just 10 points away from last-placed Rundu Chiefs, who are rooted at the bottom of the league table.

Chiefs will be able to close in on Citizens in one weekend if they manage to collect six points and if Citizens drop six points in a weekend. Citizens' hopes of a fairy-tale run to win the premier league also appear to be over, as log leaders African Stars are 16 points away from them.

“I am sure that every club in the premier league will want to begin the season on a high and that is why we have to be ready,” Goagoseb says.
