Windhoek Annual Cultural Festival returns this week

The 2022 edition of the Windhoek Annual Cultural Festival is scheduled for 6 to 10 April at Sam Nujoma Stadium under the theme “Where Art Begin”.
Launched in 2019, the Windhoek Annual Cultural Festival aims to promote and celebrate Namibia’s rich culture while creating a platform that enhances entrepreneurship, sources local talent and educates Namibians through social creativity and innovation.
Speaking to Namibian Sun, the festival’s brand and marketing manager, Ivawa Shimweefeleni, shared that this year’s event is focused on celebrating and recognising artists in different areas.
“We have also introduced a few new activities, amongst others, The Battle of the DJs and the Eating Competition, to make things fun and interesting.”
Something for everyone
Shimweefeleni said that besides SME exhibitions, food and beverages stalls, organisers have also included cultural and craft exhibition stalls as well as a kiddies’ corner. She mentioned that there is literally something for everyone to enjoy, saying that they will kickstart the festival with the Show Your Talent Competition which is usually very exciting to watch as different Namibians showcase their artistic abilities and talents.
“Miss WACF is another one to watch out for as we witness the beautiful ladies graciously compete for the Miss WACF 2022 crown,” said Shimweefeleni.
Musical performances
The festival also features musical performances throughout the event. The line-up is as follows:
• Wednesday: Show Your Talent Competition
• Thursday- Firework Night
• Friday: Musical Night/ Cultural Groups Performances
• Saturday: Cooking Competition
• Sunday: Miss WACF & Eating Competition.
