In freak accident, a well wall fell on a five-year-old girl on Monday at Omufitu waNauyala village in the Omusati Region’s Anamulenge constituency. Selma Shatipamba died instantly.
According to Omusati police crime investigations coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Moses Simaho, it is alleged that the deceased was found dead in a pond with half of her body under the sand in a mahangu field.
Shatipamba’s body will be transported to the Okahao police mortuary for a postmortem.
In a separate incident also on Monday, six male suspects reportedly attacked a security guard in Oshikuku.
The suspects took the guard’s service pistol and three rounds of live ammunition.
Simaho said the suspects used metal objects to beat Rafael Hifikepunye Ndemueda (26), who resides at Epaya location in the Oshikuku constituency.
“The stolen pistol is valued at N$4 500 and has not yet been recovered.”
The suspects are unknown to the complainant, Simaho said, urging the public to report any leads regarding the incident to the police.
