Toddler drowns in bucket
A 15-month-old toddler drowned in a bucket at Onamanape village in the Omusati Region's Okalongo constituency on Sunday.
The incident occurred around 14:00.
According to crime investigation coordinator, deputy commissioner Moses Simaho, Royal Fatima Fritz was allegedly left in a traditional hut with other children while her mother was sleeping in her room.
Another child, age unknown, who was left to guard the toddler, allegedly left her unattended. It was in that moment that the minor drowned in the bucket, Simaho said.
“Her lifeless body was discovered by her mother who came to look for her,” he added.
Simaho said the body is currently being kept at Oshikuku hospital and will be transported to the Okahao police mortuary for a post-mortem.
He warned parents not to leave children unattended, saying it may lead to tragedy.
