SHORT NEWS: Nekundi appoints transport commission

Works minister Veikko Nekundi inaugurated the new board members of the Transportation Commission of Namibia in Windhoek yesterday. Nekundi urged the members to champion inclusivity, strengthen regulatory oversight, and address persistent safety and compliance gaps in the sector. The minister stressed that the commission must drive efficiency, support youth and women’s participation in transport, and ensure the sector operates at peak effectiveness. The temporary board — appointed for six months — is chaired by Loini Shikale and includes Joe Shipepe, Johannes Thikusho, and Dr Helvi Petrus.
