Namibia Beverages – sharing the profits
NAMIBIA BEVERAGES did it again when for the third consecutive year it shared profits with all its staff of close to 600 after the shareholders agreed that the company may share a percentage of the profits.
The profit-sharing scheme was introduced three years ago, when the shareholders agreed on profit-sharing. “Therefore, apart from our normal salaries and Christmas bonuses (13th cheque), we get this benefit after the end of each financial year, based on the results of the previous financial year, in this case 2010/2011. “Now, we all know that we have made it in 2010.
We made profit in excess of the target which allows us to share this nearly N$13 million amongst all of us. “Also important, is that 250 more people than last year will share in this money. In 2008, when the scheme started, everyone got almost a full month’s salary as profit-share. In 2009 (last year), everyone got more than three month’s salary as a bonus in profit-share. “The year 2010 was again a record year for our company.
The last two years we grew our profits in total by more than 100% – and that is after we have grown our profits 20%-plus every year for the eight years before that. “We invested more than N$100 million in expansion and capital investment over the past two years because we are growing,” Managing Director Frik Oosthuizen told his staff when they were celebrating the event. For the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Welfare, Alpheus Vehonga Muheua, it was an unforgettable experience when he was invited to attend the announcement and the celebrations that followed. “You are privileged to be the recipient of excellent news from your Managing Director.
“To the corporate sector - what an example! “With Namibia Beverages having such a key role in our lives for so many years, at so many celebrations, we, this afternoon are not only recognising the staff for their tangible contributions, but we also recognise and applaud Namibia Beverages for its valued contribution to the Namibian economy and the development of Namibia as a whole. Much had been said about the empowerment and development of our human capital in Namibia.
Today, once again, I am proud to witness a pioneering spirit in the management of Namibia Beverages that seek to evidently empower staff, with a meaningful impact on their families,” the Deputy Minister said.
