Putting Namibia on the map
From Ohangwena to the Island of Bali
Many know him by the funny videos he uploads on social media and all the brands he promotes for and parties he attends as well as the socialites he hangs out with. But many rarely see that behind all the photo shoots and Mcing gigs he gets, Talah is just an ordinary boy with the gift of connecting to people. Born and raised in Oukwanyama, Talah Dacosta started modelling in 2014 where he was actually only a photographic model and not a runway one. “I am photogenic and so I decided to try it out and it worked perfectly.” Talah’s modelling career glew and flourished so fast to a point where he would get called by certain photographers and certain brand owners to model for their brands and photography companies.
Talah’s huge and bubbly personality got him selected as the only Namibian contestant in the Mr Universal ambassador (MUA) that is due to take place this month in Indonesia. Mr Universal ambassador pageant is looking for a captivating male role model and it will be held in the beautiful island of Bali Indonesia between 28 October and 03 November where Christian Daniel Ortiz of Puerto Rico, Mr Universal ambassador 2015 will hand over the title to the next winner. The winner the of pageant will venture on an unforgettable year of experience with the following prizes and privileges of more than USD 10,000, a cash prize, a modelling contract from MUA partner, an apartment in Jakarta Indonesia during the reign, international travel to a minimum of 10 countries, holiday packages in Bali, products and vouchers from sponsors, weekly pocket money during he's stay in Indonesia and a massive publication in MUA media channels.
Talah says he recalls the day he got the good news like it was yesterday. “Being selected for the MUA is on top of my achievements list. I have always wanted to present my country on international platforms like Big Brother Africa, which was one of my biggest aspirations I’ve had up to today,” said an excited Talah.
He said there is still one thing that is standing between him and his MUA goal which is a plane ticket. “I’m somehow feeling bad as I’m not sure if I will be leaving for Indonesia to represent my country since I’m yet to get sponsors to pay for my flight ticket. Winning this competition will make me very happy and proud to represent my country,” said Talah.
