Build-up to major logistics session

Logistics industry players are advised of the eighth annual logistics and transport workshop hosted by the Namibian- German Centre for Logistics (NGCL).
The three-day workshop at Swakopmund will be held between 28 September and 30 September.
As in previous years, the event will present case studies from other countries with well-established logistics sectors, as well as presentations from local and international experts in the field, addressing the theme ‘The Namibian Gateway: An Opportunity to Trade With Africa’.
“The annual logistics workshop is a great way for the industry to share trends, knowledge and information in logistics, transportation and supply chain management,” NGCL director Logan Fransman said yesterday.
He said the National Planning Commission (NPC) director-general and minister of economic planning, Tom Alweendo, would open the workshop.
Other partners in the endeavour include the Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG), the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) and the National Road Safety Council.
“The fact that each year more partners come on board, and that a government minister is opening the workshop, illustrates the importance and contribution of logistics in Namibia,” Fransman said.
“If we truly want to become the gateway to Africa, we must continue on this path and learn from each other in the industry –applying both local and international knowledge.”
