Be the game-changer

Yanna Smith
I’m just going to be frank with this and ask, exactly where does your inspiration come from? Is it from your parents? Siblings or other relatives maybe? Or is it from Kim K-West perhaps or even Donald Trump? Mind you, I’m referring to positive inspiration here! But is it justified if the person you draw inspiration from does it in an unethical manner?
For many it doesn’t come from people per se but rather the environment and their surroundings. I was so taken aback this week, and in a good way, I was astonished when I met two young men and one of them got inspiration from the other to follow his dream, something he was passionate about but just needed a little shove on. And it was just so amazing for me because many of us seek for such things in places far away or from what we have just heard or seen on television. This once again shows just how we take our own things for granted and will cross the gates of heaven in Namibia and pray that the Nigerian pastors can open them for us. How ironic. Today, with the help of his friend, Fire is one of the next important poets Namibia has yet seen!
The one thing I could maybe dwell on is how we need to start taking care of each other from home and then go out there and continue our good work. I honestly don’t think it’s so hard just to be of assistance with what your neighbour Nangula is struggling with in a certain area and while you know it so damn well, you fear helping her out this one time will take all your knowledge away from you! And I swear that’s actually a true belief in Namibia - I’ve experienced it all my secondary school life! Lol. But the unfortunate part is that we overlook the fact that a candle does not lose its brightness by lighting another candle. And now I feel so smart for finally saying that out loud.
Let’s be good sports and Harambee through this! Nobody should be left out and I hope this will enthuse you to help someone become what they have wanted to be! Oh, and peace to the Middle East!
