WINDHOEK LIGHTS UP 1 298 HOUSEHOLDS: Nearly 1 300 households across a dozen informal settlements in Windhoek are about to be plugged into the grid as the City of Windhoek pushes ahead with its electrification programme in underserved areas.

The project will connect 1 298 households across the Tobias Hainyeko, Windhoek Rural, Moses //Garoëb and Khomasdal constituencies, with Mix Extension 1 and Otjomuise Extensions 6 and 7 among the largest beneficiaries.

"A brighter future is coming to Mix settlement and 11 more informal settlements," the City said in a recent statement.

The City added that its accelerated electrification programme "is bringing residents closer to safer homes, improved living conditions and new opportunities through access to reliable electricity".
