Premier Tyres expands

After reaching success in the tyre business since opening its first shop in Windhoek back in 2009, Premier Tyres this year made good on its expansion plans, opening a new workshop at Ondangwa.

Director and Co-owner Vilho Kambonde said the idea for the northern shop came after extensive research, but also in recognition of the town’s historical importance.

“If you know a bit of history, Ondangwa could be considered the first commercial settlement in the north, before it became a town. During the contract-labour days, this was where business-minded folk would gather from all over,” he says.

Specialising in everything from new tyres to the repair of old tyres, wheel balancing and wheel alignment, Kambonde said plans for further expansion is under discussion.

The company currently has 20 employees at its two shops, and an official launch to the Ondangwa shop is also in the pipeline, he said.
