Luzaan van Wyk
Time has come for Miss Namibia Luzaan van Wyk to represent the country at the annual Miss World pageant to be held in London, England. tjil! spoke to her to find out how she feels. Even though excited, she made it clear that she is nervous too. I think anyone would be, Luzaan, so don’t sweat about that.
She will be spending at least three weeks with all the other contenders before the official crowning of the 61st Miss World taking place on 6 November. Luzaan expressed gratitude to Miss Namibia 2010 Odile Gertze for providing her with tips and emphasised that she will do her best in proudly representing Namibia.
Realised a dream
tjil! attended the ground-breaking ceremony of a new classroom for the Muka Day Care centre at 8ste Laan behind Otjomuise. Guess what, Luzaan initiated it all. She told tjil! that this centre was the first charity visit by the Miss Namibia top ten finalists. “This place immediately captured my heart,” said Luzaan.
After searching for sponsors, Luzaan secured the assistance of Buffalo Gas; Andries Louw Developers, that will construct the much needed classroom for free; Omnitel Namibia and Business Connections, that each sponsored N$5 000 and N$6 000 respectively; Waltons, that sponsored an emergency medical kit, and Coca Cola, that sponsored soft drinks and other goodies.
tjil! wishes Luzaan all the best with the Miss World experience. May it be lots of fun!
