Exciting Vasbyt takes centre stage
This event, the fi rst one in the National Championships series, is organised by the Trax and Trails 4x4 Club. Drivers will be tested to the limit on the tracks behind Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) and so far fi fteen cars have already confi rmed their participation. Martin Theron, organiser of the Vasbyt, promised that the event will be action packed as usual. “We have invested a lot of money and time into the track and both drivers and spectators will be welcomed by wet, muddy exciting stages. We have also tried our best to fi x the river at the entrance for better accessibility,” he said.
Theron also extended a challenge to all 4x4 enthusiasts with any 4x4 to enter in the open class to test their skills. “We have a special class, Class D, for standard production vehicles. The D–Class line-up is after the A, B and C classes. This means that there will have been already more or less 15 vehicles through the stage before the D class starts.
You also don’t have to compete in all the stages. You do not have to damage your 4x4 if you feel that the stage is too di_ cult,” he explained. Namibia Breweries Limited has been a supporter of motor sport for more than 10 years and Danie Keulder, NBL Sponsorship and Events Manager, said that the sport draws great crowds and also brings families and friends together. “That is why we at NBL support great sport events such as Volleyball for All and Rugby in Henties Bay – a day that unites people under the umbrella of sport,” he said.
NBL also takes the opportunity at such events to promote the message of responsible drinking and no drinking and driving through branding and marketing as well as responsible actions such as added security and disseminating information on designated driver service providers. The Trax and Trails 4x4 Club extends an invitation to all motor enthusiasts to join them on Saturday from 12:00 onwards.
