Race for SPYL leadership heats up

Ngurare may face a tough challenge during the youth league’s upcoming August congress after the SPYL leadership in the Ohangwena Region nominated Julius Nyerere Namholoh to vie for the top position.

The SPYL in Ohangwena also nominated Heather Sibungo for the position of deputy secretary, the position currently held by Jutta Shikomba.

At least two regions, Kavango and Khomas, have so far nominated Ngurare for the top position.
Meanwhile, the entire SPYL leadership in the Ohangwena Region was replaced during the regional conference held at Eenhana earlier this month.

Ndaitavela Haimbodi is the new regional secretary, replacing Martha Nakale who did not avail herself for re-election.

Olivia Valungameka has replaced Haiduwa Tangeni as secretary for mobilisation, while the previous treasurer, Martin Nghiitombo, was replaced by Moses Shikukumwa.

Lydia Ndivayele was given the responsibility of leading the Pioneer Movement, replacing Victoria Haufiku.

Additional members are Foibe Nghidimbwa, Ndilimeke David, Elii Gebhard and Setson Shipanga.

The SPYL in Ohangwena also nominated Olivia Valungameka, Vilho Kataloonga, Sam Naholo, Lydia Ndivayele and Lazarus Shitenga to vie for positions in the central committee.
