KILLER’S BLOOD: The scene were Johannes Nangolo killed himself seconds after ending the life of his girlfriend.
Eita, 35, was brutally killed by her fiancé, Namibia Defence Force (NDF) member Johannes Nangolo at Okahao on Friday after he suspected her of having an affair.
A day before the tragedy, Nangolo, 33, travelled from Windhoek to Okahao after he heard rumours that Eita was seen around town with an alleged lover – also an NDF member who works in the capital with Nangolo.
On Friday morning, Nangolo came to Eita’s rental property and shot her once in the head before turning the gun on himself while a tenant looked helplessly on.
Eita’s relatives, who spoke to Namibian Sun after the incident, said Eita had been trying to end her relationship with Nangolo for some time, but that he refused to accept that she was trying to move on with her life.
“When she tried to break things off, he told her that their families had already met and therefore the wedding would not be cancelled as it had already been planned. He told her if she didn’t go through with the wedding, then they would both exit the world together,” the relative said.
After receiving numerous death threats from Nangolo via text messages and phone calls, Eita allegedly told her mother that she feared for her life, prompting relatives to approach Nangolo’s family to discuss the matter.
“Johnny’s family said they know him and there is no way he would ever kill anyone. They said he was probably just making empty threats and told Selma’s family that they have nothing to worry about,” a family member related.
“And now they are dead, like he promised.”
