My husband has changed into a monster

Dear Auntie Nangy, Please help. I’m a 31-year-old lady, my partner is 42 years. We’ve been together for 14 years. At the beginning we were not working and it was fine, but in 2004 when he started working and became a businessman he started treating me bad.

I was hoping for him to change but he never did. In 2007 it became worse. He started acting really bad - he accused me of being unfaithful and of stealing. He insulted me and doubted the kids being his. My last- born was taken for a DNA test.

I failed my exams and dropped out of school and was diagnosed with depression, but he still does many terrible things. I used to love him but now I’ve lost hope. I don’t want him anymore but I don’t know what to do.

Answer:

I feel so sorry for you. It is not easy to be hurt so much by someone you have loved for so long.

You have to go back to the therapist or doctor who diagnosed you with depression and tell the person what is going on and that you need help.

Then tell a trusted family member that you need to get out of this abusive relationship and that you need help. You don’t deserve to be treated like this.

You are a human being who deserves love, respect, support and kindness.

It will be a very difficult time for you and the kids, but in the end you will be much better of without this monster. All the best.
