Villagers up in arms over swingers’ club

Standing on the outskirts of a quiet village near the New Forest, the half-million-pound detached house looks unremarkable.

But to the horror of its neighbours, it hosts one of Britain’s leading swingers’ clubs. Owner David Kay has transformed his five-bedroom property so that it now boasts two dungeons featuring spanking benches, torture chairs, examination tables and suspension equipment.

The back garden has been filled with a hot tub, stocks and a giant “crucifixion” cross for use in sex games. Scores of people visit the JCT2 club in Calmore, Hampshire every week for parties and themed nights. Now, after complaints from villagers about the disruption, the town council has issued an enforcement notice claiming the owner has let the house become a business without planning permission.

But Kay, who has owned the property since 2007, has launched a vigorous defence of his club. “The guests are asked to bring a voluntary contribution towards the costs of hosting the parties. This contribution is entirely voluntary and can be likened to that of guests bringing a bottle of drink or gifts to the host of any other party or social gathering.

“The total value of contributions amounts to a fraction of the costs of the rent or mortgage. It is therefore impossible to conclude that the parties held are a commercial entity or for financial gain.”
Kay said there had been no complaints about any disturbance. He added that 95 parties a year were held, generally on weekends, and that it was primarily a home not a club.

But the website for the house gives details of parties - both midweek daytime and at weekends - with dungeon hire starting from £25 during the day.
