The soil has barely received the remains of Rina !Nau/gawases, a 17-year-old Augustineum pupil who was raped and killed in the first week of March, and another mother is to soon bury a daughter killed in the same fashion.

This long weekend, Christians are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after his crucifixion, a miracle that stunned the world some 1980 years ago. Yes, 1980 years ago because Jesus is said to have died aged 33.

“Yesterday, a South African politician - Mpumalanga Premier David Mabuza - vowed to enforce meetings between councillors and communities in order to clamp down on service delivery protests. This follows a string of protests by residents who charge that their councillors are arrogant, underperforming and promoting nepotism.

An Omusati regional councillor made an uneducated remark last weekend when he told Prime Minister Dr Hage Geingob that the four northern regions - Oshana, Omusati, Ohangwena and Oshikoto - must receive developmental attention from government because they deliver ‘good votes’ for the ruling Swapo.

Almost six years after its formation, the Rally for Democracy and Progress (RDP) - the country’s official opposition party - announced what it says are alternative policies to those of the ruling party Swapo.
