Local farm workers’ wages ‘improving’

Findings from a recent survey on farm workers’ wages suggest there has been a steady increase in the remuneration packages of farm workers.

The Namibia Agricultural Union recently conducted its bi-annual wage survey in the Commercial Agricultural Sector. The 2012 Agricultural Employers Association Wage Survey is carried out to investigate and analyse the different components of the remuneration packages and management of farm workers in the commercial agricultural sector. The DTA and the RDP have called the new valuations for farm land unfair, unreasonable and unaffordable for the majority of farmers, with increases of over 600% in being recorded in some cases.
